Cracking Racing in Craigavon for Enniskillen Lakelanders' Swimmers

Portadown ASC and Lurgan ASC hosted the South Lake Open Meet 2026 at South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th April. A total of 26 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers competed over the two day meet.

Saturday morning saw fantastic swimming by 11 of our younger athletes competing in a range of 25m races in the short course format. Many PBs were smashed with the young Lakelanders doing their club proud in the pool. 

 

Tara Collins (11) was in outstanding sprinting form, claiming gold, silver and bronze medals in the 25m Breaststroke, Freestyle and Backstroke events. She also finished a strong fourth in the Butterfly, rounding off the meet by being awarded the Best 11-Year-Old Girl Trophy.

Maya McClintock (8) secured 1st place in the 25m Backstroke. She was delighted to place 2nd in Breaststroke and 3rd in both Butterfly and Freestyle. An excellent all round performance showing good progress.

Imogen Neal (11), secured new PBs in all four strokes. She won 1st place in the 25m Backstroke, 3rd in the 25m Butterfly and placed 4th in the 25m Freestyle and Breaststroke events.

Erin Mc Grath (11) showed an excellent improvement across all four strokes. Her standout performances came in the 25m Breaststroke and 25m Butterfly, where she secured impressive 2nd place finishes in both events. She also showed solid performances in Backstroke (13th) and Freestyle (7th) achieving PB’s in all four strokes.

Aoife Donnelly (8) impressed on her gala debut with a confident 25m Breaststroke. 

Caolán Donnelly (10) powered through his first competition, smashing three PBs in the 25m Backstroke, Butterfly and Freestyle—cutting 13, 9 and 10 seconds respectively.

Alise Uzulina (9) was thrilled to notch up PBs across the board—dropping 6 seconds in 25m Freestyle, 3 seconds in Breaststroke and an impressive 10 seconds in Backstroke.

Ella Rose Carron (11) delivered PBs in all four of her races, including an incredible 10-second drop in her Butterfly time, much to her delight.

Jack Loizides (8) attended his first gala. He took 14 seconds off his Breaststroke time to place 6th, going on to clock 16 seconds off his Freestyle PB, a great start to competitive swimming.

Harriet Cadden (10) had a great morning, beating her previous records to clock in new PBs across 25m Breaststroke, Backstroke and Freestyle.

Charlie Brewster (9) had three very strong swims achieving three PBs. The highlight of his morning was winning a gold medal in the 25m Breaststroke with the fastest boys time (11 and under) of the morning - a great achievement.

 

The Craigavon pool was quickly adjusted for the 50m Long Course racing which saw 15 of the older Lakelanders reap the rewards of their dedicated training, securing a slew of new PBs and several medals home to Enniskillen.

Holly Barkley (14) achieved massive PBs in her 50m, 100m & 200m Freestyle, securing a qualifying time for the Ulster Championships in the 50m event.

Mollie Kate Brewster (10) excelled in her first Long Course Competition at only 10 years of age. She competed in 4 events over the weekend and came home with 3 gold medals and a silver medal (narrowly missing gold by 1 100th of a second in the 50m Backstroke). She dominated the three other events winning the 100m Breaststroke by almost 4 seconds. She embraced the challenge of Long Course competition and proved herself once again as one of Ulster’s top up and coming female swimmers.

Darragh Collins (15) earned a silver medal in the 50m Breaststroke, qualifying for the Irish Nationals in the summer and a bronze medal in the 50m Freestyle. He also secured another qualification time in the 100m Backstroke for the upcoming Ulster Championship.

Sophie Hanna (14) had a very successful gala. A 4 second PB in the 200m Freestyle ensured a 6th Ulster Championship qualification time. Sophie placed 7th in the 100m Backcrawl as well as the 50m Freestyle. A further PB in the 100m Freestyle led to a top 10 finish in a competitive race.

Lauren Loizides (14) had three good swims. She took almost 4 seconds off her PB her 100m Freestyle and swam her first 100m Butterfly.

James McSorley (13) shaved almost 11 seconds off his entry time to place first in his 50m Backstroke heat, securing a top ten finish in his age group. He maintained his time in the 100m Breaststroke to place 11thamong his peers.

Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad (12) competed in two events, winning gold in the 50m Freestyle with a PB and adding another strong swim in the 200m Breaststroke to earn bronze medal.

Older brother Russell Mikievicz Lumayad (16) had a strong weekend, achieving PBs in all five events. He placed 5th in both the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle, 8th in the 100m and 400m Freestyle, and also delivered a great swim in the 50m Butterfly.

Ryan Mongan (16) swam a speedy 50m Breaststroke to claim a gold medal. He went on to secure a new PB in the 100m Breaststroke to finish in the top 5. He produced another strong performance in the 200m Breaststroke event.

Anton Neal (15) placed 4th in the 200m Breaststroke to secure a qualification time for the upcoming Ulster Championships. He placed 5th in the 100m Breaststroke and clocked new PBs in the 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle and the 50m Breaststroke.

Younger sister Ella Neal (14) also had a successful weekend, claiming new PBs in all 6 of her events – 100m and 200m Backstroke, 200m IM and the 100m & 200m Freestyle.

Natalie Swidani (13) produced strong swims in the 50m and 100m Freestyle as well as the 100m Breaststroke, maintaining her times.

Haralds Uzulins (15) secured new PBs across all his events - 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly, gaining a qualification time for the Ulster Championships in the latter event.

Conal Walker (18) competed in 4 events, producing solid swims in all. He claimed bronze medals in 50m Freestyle and 100m Freestyle alongside a PB in the 200m IM.

Finley Walker-Leonard (15) achieved top 10 finishes in his age group along with PBs in the 50m Backstroke (taking 8 seconds off), 400m Freestyle (taking 10 seconds off) and 50 Butterfly (taking 4 seconds off).

Club PRO Janette Mongan commended the squad’s performances, highlighting the positive progress being made as the season continues. She noted that the results are a very rewarding product of committed training in both Omagh Leisure Centre with Coaches Fionna, Chelsey & the team as well as at Broadmeadow Gym Enniskillen with coach Liam.

The club look forward to hosting their home Gala at OLC next weekend, hosting swimmers from across the province for an exciting morning’s racing.

The club also extended its appreciation to Lough Erne Resort and Western Cars for their ongoing support, which plays an important role in the development of its swimmers.
