Lakelanders Deliver Outstanding Results at Swim Ulster Swim Festival 2026

A squad of 21 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders showcased their talent at the Swim Ulster Swim Festival 2026, held at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Lisburn, on Sunday 28th June, delivering a series of outstanding performances against strong competition.

The Lakelanders rose to the occasion in style, returning home with an impressive haul of medals and personal bests (PBs), highlighting the hard work, determination and commitment of these talented young athletes.

New to this year's Swim Festival was the mixed-age 300m relay. The Lakelanders entered three strong teams and were delighted to see one team claim a bronze medal with a 3rd-place finish. The successful team consisted of Charlie Brewster (10), Emily Irvine (11), Elin O'Donohue (12), James McSorley (13), Anton Neal (15) and Holly Barkley (15).

Holly Barkley (15) enjoyed a hugely successful day, winning one gold, four silver and one bronze medal. She produced a massive six-second PB in the 50m butterfly to claim silver. Holly also struck gold in the 100m breaststroke and added silver medals in the 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. Her bronze medal came as part of the mixed-age relay team. It was a fantastic way to round off a highly successful season, and she is already looking forward to next year.

Tara Collins (11) won her 100m freestyle heat with an impressive eight-second PB and also delivered strong swims in the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Anna May Hill (15) had a superb day, achieving PBs in the 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 200m freestyle while matching her entry times in the 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle. She claimed four bronze medals and struck gold in the 200m freestyle, bringing a successful season to an excellent close.

Emily Irvine (11) delivered another outstanding performance for the Lakelanders, bringing home two bronze medals. She achieved a personal best in the 100m backstroke to secure third place in her age group. Emily narrowly missed out on additional medals with fourth-place finishes in both the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle and also recorded a top-10 finish in the 50m breaststroke. She was delighted to be part of the mixed-age relay team, which also claimed a bronze medal. It was a fantastic way to end the season after a year of consistently strong performances.

Lauren Loizides (14) enjoyed an excellent day of racing, taking eight seconds off her 50m backstroke and two seconds off her 50m butterfly. She also produced strong swims in the 100m breaststroke, 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle.

Tiana Mbeulani (13) enjoyed the Swim Festival, achieving PBs in the 100m breaststroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, while matching her entry time in the 100m freestyle.

Erin McGrath (11) achieved two PBs, taking an incredible 6.43 seconds off her 100m individual medley and a further 1.44 seconds off her 50m butterfly. Erin also swam brilliantly in the 100m breaststroke, finishing eighth in the 11 & Over age group.

Ava McSorley (10) enjoyed attending the Swim Festival, securing PBs in both the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle, while also producing a strong swim in the 50m breaststroke.

Niamh Meehan (10) thoroughly enjoyed her first away gala, achieving PBs in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Imogen Neal (11) produced five strong swims, competing in the 50m backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, as well as the 100m breaststroke and 100m freestyle. She achieved a new PB in the 100m breaststroke to round off another positive competition.

Elin O'Donohue (12) delivered four strong individual swims, achieving fourth-place finishes in the 100m individual medley, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle. The highlight of her day came in the mixed-age relay, where she helped the team secure an excellent bronze medal.

Clodagh Owens (10) loved her first away gala, competing in breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke, and delivered impressive performances in all three events.

Charlie Brewster (10) thoroughly enjoyed competing in the mixed-age relay, where he achieved a new PB and was delighted to help the team secure a bronze medal.

Conor Collins (13) impressed with a six-second PB in the 100m breaststroke and also produced strong performances in the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke.

Patrick Dineen (10) enjoyed competing in his first mixed-age relay and achieved an excellent fourth-place finish in the 50m breaststroke. He also produced a strong swim in the backstroke.

James McSorley (13) was delighted to bring home two silver medals after finishing second in both the 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle. He also secured fourth place in the 100m breaststroke and fifth place in the 50m butterfly, rounding off another strong swimming season.

Anton Neal (15) was delighted to bring home four medals. He claimed gold in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke events, while also securing silver medals in the 50m and 100m freestyle. Anton was also a member of the mixed-age relay team that claimed bronze, providing a very strong finish to his swimming season.

Daithi Owens (13) thoroughly enjoyed the Swim Festival, achieving personal bests in all five of his races to round off a fantastic performance.

Kealan Rice (13) enjoyed the Swim Festival, achieving PBs in both the 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle while matching his entry time in the 100m breaststroke.

Milo Sheridan (13) achieved a new PB in the 100m individual medley and also swam strongly in both the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Haralds Uzulins (15) had a fantastic day, winning gold in both the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke. He also secured silver in the 100m breaststroke, improving his personal best by an impressive 3.2 seconds.

Finley Walker-Leonard (15) completed an excellent competition, securing second-place finishes in the 200m backstroke, 200m individual medley and 100m butterfly.

Club PRO Janette Mongan praised the swimmers' dedication and commitment throughout the season, saying:

"These performances are the result of months of hard work, dedication and commitment to training. The medals our swimmers have achieved for the Lakelanders are fantastic and are a fitting reward for all of their efforts. It is a fantastic way to finish what has been a very competitive year of swimming. They are wonderful ambassadors for Enniskillen and Fermanagh, and we couldn't be prouder of how they have represented the club throughout the season."

The swimmers and their families are grateful for the guidance and support of coaches Fionna Orr, Chelsey Weir and Liam Campbell, as well as the many parents who give their time in voluntary roles to support the club and its athletes throughout the year.
