Enniskillen Lakelanders make successful season debut at Lisburn Gala

Eleven young swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club travelled to Lisburn's Lagan Valley Leisureplex to kick-start the new swimming season at the Swim Ulster Future Challengers Gala on Saturday 10th October.
Accompanied by Head Coach Fionna Orr, the team took to the pool, ready to put their training into practice, challenge themselves and get the season off to a fantastic start.
Charlie Brewster (10) thoroughly enjoyed his swims. He swam a 2 second PB in his 50m Backstroke and earned himself a bronze award for his time. He also had a strong swim in his 50m Butterfly coming away with a 20 second PB.
Older sister Mollie Kate Brewster (11) enjoyed a very successful afternoon, coming away with a silver award in each of her events. Placing 1st in her age group in her 50m butterfly and 200m IM, and 2nd in her 100m backstroke. Her stand out swim of the day was topping her age group in her 200m IM by over 5 seconds.
Poppy Brownlee (12) smashed her PBs in the 200m Individual Medley, 100m Backstroke and 100m Butterfly, cutting a remarkable 16 seconds off her entry time in the 100m Butterfly.
Tara Collins (11) made a strong start to the season, competing in the demanding 200m Individual Medley for the first time. She claimed a PB in the 100m Backstroke and also impressed in the 50m Butterfly.
Lauren Loizides (14) enjoyed her first gala of the season, celebrating two PBs. She took six seconds off her 100m Individual Medley time and two seconds off her 50m Butterfly. She also swam well in the Backstroke events.
Tiana Mbeulani (13) achieved a personal best in the 50m Backstroke.
Erin McGrath (11) finished an impressive 7th in the 50m Backstroke and achieved a brilliant PB in the 50m Butterfly, knocking 2.34 seconds off her previous time.
Imogen Neal (11) had a great day's swimming, competing in her first 200m Individual Medley, produced a super 4 second PB in her 100m Backstroke and finished off with a strong swim in her 50m Butterfly.
Elin O'Donohue (12) achieved a fantastic result in the 100m Individual Medley, taking an incredible 6 seconds off her PB to finish as the fastest 12-year-old girl. She followed this with another excellent swim in the 50m Butterfly, maintaining her PB and finishing as the 3rd fastest 12-year-old girl.
Isabella Rasdale (11) swam extremely well, achieving three new PBs. She took an incredible 12 seconds off her time in both the 100m Individual Medley (IM) and 100m Backstroke, as well as an impressive 10 seconds off her 50m Butterfly. A fantastic start to the new swimming season.
Kealan Rice (13) had two great swims maintaining his times for the 100m Individual Medley and 50m Backstroke.
Well done to all the Enniskillen Lakelanders swimmers who competed in Lisburn. It was a fantastic way to kick-start the new season, with plenty of great swims and personal bests. Thank you to Head Coach Fionna for her support of the swimmers throughout the Meet as well as coach Chelsey Weir and all the coaching team working with the young swimmers at the club's temporary base at Omagh Leisure Centre. Thanks to to all the parent volunteers supporting the swimmers in a variety of roles. The club are grateful to Lough Erne Resort and Western Cars Enniskillen for their continued support. The senior swimmers will travel to Belfast for the three day Aspiring Champions Meet next weekend. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season brings.

Swim Ireland's Irish Youth and Senior Summer National Championships 2026 took place from Tuesday 21st to Saturday 25th July at the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre, Dublin. The five-day event saw 1125 swimmers from over 120 clubs compete from all over Ireland to as far afield as Dubai. The path to nationals is paved by hundreds of hours in the pool so to qualify for this prestigious competition is a huge achievement for the swimmers. There was high excitement among the Enniskillen Lakelanders swimmers who had qualified to compete.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club were well represented on the National stage at the 2026 Irish Age Group National Championships at the University of Limerick Sports Arena last week. Two young Lakelanders’ swimmers joined almost 700 swimmers from over 100 clubs competing over four days of exciting competition, bringing home a National title to Enniskillen.
With the 2025/2026 swimming season coming to an end, the finale for the competitive swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders is the Irish Summer National competitions. These competitions will take place across two meets in July with Age Group Championships will take place in Limerick, followed by Irish Summer National Youth & Senior Championships in Dublin. There is great excitement among the 7 local swimmers who have qualified to compete at these events.
A squad of 21 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders showcased their talent at the Swim Ulster Swim Festival 2026, held at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Lisburn, on Sunday 28 June, delivering a series of outstanding performances against strong competition.
The Lakelanders rose to the occasion in style, returning home with an impressive haul of medals and personal bests (PBs), highlighting the hard work, determination and commitment of these talented young athletes.
A squad of 20 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders ASC made a big splash at the Swim Belfast Invitational 2026, held at Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre, Belfast, on Sunday 7th June, delivering a series of outstanding performances against strong competition.
The Lakelanders rose to the occasion in style, returning home with an impressive haul of medals and personal bests (PBs), highlighting the hard work, determination, and commitment of these talented young athletes.
Banbridge Open Long Course Meet took place in Craigavon’s South Lakes Leisure Centre on Saturday the 6th of June.
A squad of 11 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers, along with Head Coach Fionna Orr, made their way to the fabulous South Lakes Leisure Centre long course (50m) swimming pool for the final club meet of the season for the older swimmers. This meet provided the final opportunity for competitive swimmers to qualify for Swim Ireland's Irish Summer National competitions. As a bonus Banbridge swimming club had extended their invitation to clubs from all over Ireland. The chance to achieve qualifying times and compete against the best in Ireland was too good to miss.
A squad of 9 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club attended the Ulster Age Group and Senior LC Championships at the Bangor Aurora Leisure Complex on 1st, 2nd & 3rd May. Competitors from across 32 clubs in Ulster met the tough qualification standards to take part in this key meet over three days, targeting Ulster podium spots, and those important Summer National qualification times.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their Spring Junior Gala on Sunday 26th April, an event aimed at younger swimmers. As the Lakelanders approach the first year complete at their temporary base at Omagh Leisure Centre and there was much excitement among the swimmers from the outset with 41 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders taking part. They were joined by competitors from eleven other Ulster swimming clubs. For many of the 8-14 year-old competitors, this would be one their first experiences of individual competition, that all important first step for every sportsperson.
