Enniskillen Lakelanders swimmer Hayden James travelled to Limerick at Easter to compete at the Connacht Aspiring Champions Gala held at the University of Limerick Sport Arena.

Hayden (15) swam in the 200m Freestyle event in which he achieved a whopping 17.86 second PB and a Division 2 qualification time. Later that evening he was successful again in the 50m Freestyle, finishing  with another PB and Division 2 qualification time. 

The following day Hayden competed in the 400m Freestyle, knocking 7.87 seconds off his previous time earning him another Division 2 qualification time. Lastly, he swam in the 100m Freestyle where he matched his previous time. Hayden walked away from the Meet very happy with two Division 2 times and qualifying times for the upcoming Ulster LC Championships in May. 

 

Lakelanders Gala Secretary Michelle Reihill said “Hayden has shown great maturity attending this meet, he has gained valuable experience which he will put to good use at the upcoming Ulster Long Course event in Bangor.”
