Lakelanders’ future challengers deliver strong swims in Omagh
A strong squad of Lakelanders junior swimmers took part in Swim Ulster Future Challengers Meet 2 at Omagh Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Coach Chelsey Weir was there to support the young swimmers who brought home a substantial haul of medal award pins and a raft of new personal times.
Mollie Kate Brewster (10) was in flying form across the event, placing 1st in her age group in the 100m IM and 2nd in both the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle. She received silver medal pins for achieving award times in each of these events.
Poppy Brownlee (11) performed well, taking on three new events including the challenging 200 IM, to complete the medley pentathlon for swimming in all five events across the series.
Ella Rose Carron (10) achieved new personal best (PB) times in the 100m IM and 50m Breaststroke and maintained her entry time in the 50m Freestyle.
Aoibheann Cassidy (11) gained a new PB in the 50m Freestyle and maintained her entry time in the 50m Breaststroke.
Daire Marie Cassidy (10) swam well in the 50m Breaststroke to maintain her entry time.
Conor Collins (12) maintained his PB in the 100m IM and set a new PB in the 100m Breaststroke. His highlight was finishing as the third fastest 12-year-old boy in the 100m Freestyle.
Younger sister, Tara Collins (10) was delighted to achieve new personal best times in both the 50m Freestyle and Breaststroke events.
Eoghan Donnelly (11) took on the 100 IM for the first time, swimming well to place fifth in his age group and fourth in the 50m Freestyle.
Ollie Elliott (11) delivered super results, placing third in both the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle.
Zena Elliott (10) achieved a new PB in the 50m Freestyle and maintained her time in the 50m Breaststroke.
Emily Irvine (10) was delighted with her performance, achieving three bronze time banded medal pins and new PBs in the 100m IM, 50m Freestyle and 50m Breaststroke.
Lauren Loizides (13) also achieved three new PBs in the 100m IM, 100m Breaststroke and 100m Free.
Tiana Mbeulani (12) had two good swims, placing second in the freestyle and third in the breaststroke in her age group.
Erin Mc Grath (10) achieved two PBs in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle and maintained her entry time in the 100IM.
James McSorley (12) had a fantastic day, placing first in 100 IM and 100m Freestyle and third in the 100m Breaststroke.
Imogen Neal (10) maintained her entry times in the 100m IM, 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle.
Daithi Owens (12) had three strong swims, achieving new PBs in 100 IM, Breaststroke and Freestyle.
Elin O'Donohue (11) took on the 100m IM, 100m Breaststroke, and 100m Freestyle, maintaining her entry times across all three events.
Isabella Rasdale (10) swam well to achieve new PBs in the 100m IM and 50m Freestyle events.
Kealan Rice (12) had two good swims achieving new PBs in the 100 IM and 100 Breaststroke and maintained his entry time in the 100m Freestyle where he placed 6th.
Maia Rolston-McAuliffe (11) swam well to maintain her entry times in the 100m IM, 100m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.
Natalie Swidani (12) took on the 200m IM, 100m Breaststroke, and 100m Freestyle, delivering strong performances to gain new PBs in all three events.
Lakelanders’ Gala Secretary, Aideen Speer, expressed her pride in the great progress of the young swimmers. This was evident in the collection of podium finishes, new PBs and medal award pins making their way back to Enniskillen.

6 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers made the journey to the Coral Leisure Centre Monaghan for Sliabh Beagh Swimming Club’s Winter Cluster Meet on 6th & 7th December.
Swim Ulster Primary Schools Cup and Championship was held at the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, Bangor on Saturday 29th November 2025. Excited for this opportunity to represent their schools, 22 swimmers across 10 local schools headed to Bangor determined to do the South-West proud and qualify for the All-Ireland Championships held in Dublin in March. Although a school competition, all the students attending are committed members of the Enniskillen Lakelanders swimming club and mustered all their skills and training in competing against the best swimmers from schools across Ulster. A successful day saw 4 podium finishes and an amazing number of swimmers qualify for the All-Ireland primary school championship to be held at the National Aquatic Centre Dublin next year.
A squad of 10 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers attended Dungannon Swimming Club’s 40th Anniversary Gala on Sunday the 9th November at Dungannon Leisure Centre. The gala was a great success for the young swimmers who returned home with numerous personal bests.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their Autumn Junior Gala on Sunday 26th October, an event aimed at younger swimmers. This was the club’s first Gala in their new temporary base at Omagh Leisure Centre and there was much excitement among the swimmers from the outset with 37 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders taking part. They were joined by competitors from nine other Ulster swimming clubs. For many of the 8-14 year-old competitors, this would be one their first experiences of individual competition, that all important first step for every sportsperson.
11 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders swimming club made their way to the Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre in Belfast to compete at Swim Ulster's Aspiring Champions Meet; the first Gala of the season for swimmers aged 13 and over. The event was held over two days, 18th & 19th October. Coaches across Ulster use this gala to assess and monitor swimmers' skills, providing the scaffolding for the building blocks for success in the coming season.
All the work so far on skills and technique resulted in a slew of Swim Ulster Awards, personal bests and many top ten finishes for the Enniskillen Lakelanders.
Enniskillen Lakelanders kicked off the 2025/26 Swim Ulster competition season on Sunday when 17 junior members took part in the Future Challengers Meet 1 at the South Lakes Leisure Centre in Craigavon.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club were well represented on the National stage at the 2025 Irish Age Group National Championships at the University of Limerick Sports Arena last week. Six young Lakelanders’ swimmers joined almost 700 swimmers from over 100 clubs competing over four days of exciting competition.
With the 2024/2025 swimming season coming to an end, the finale for the competitive swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders is the Irish Summer National competitions. There is great excitement among the 6 Lakelanders swimmers who have qualified to compete at the Age Group Championships in Limerick.
Thursday 10th July sees the start of the 4 day Irish National Age Group Championships for swimmers aged 14 and under in the UL Sport Complex at the University of Limerick. Six Lakelanders have qualified to attend, two of whom are competing at this level for the first time.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their annual End of Season Gala last Saturday 28th June. This marks the end of the club's a very different 10 month season swimming in two counties across the FODC council. The gala is an opportunity for swimmers across all groups to compete side by side and a fun relay to round of the event.
