
Enniskillen Lakelanders Travel to Lisburn for Templemore Club Event

Eight of Enniskillen Lakelanders’ developing swimmers attended the morning Level 1 session at Templemore Minor Open Meet held at Lagan Valley Leisureplex on Sunday 16th February. A Level 3 competition followed in the later part of the morning and on into the afternoon, with thirteen Lakelander swimmers participating.
Emma Speer (8) the youngest Lakelander swimmer had a great day competing first in level 1 competing in three events, achieving two PBs in backstroke and butterfly and also managed to pick up a third place for her breaststroke. In the afternoon level 3 session she swam in her favourite events in the 100m breaststroke where she finished 4th and first 9 year old , she also swam the 50m breaststroke, again swam well finishing 8th and 1st 9 year old.
Sarah Speer (10) had an enjoyable day swimming in three events with PBs in breaststroke and butterfly in the morning session and also swimming well in the 100m breaststroke in the afternoon session.
Luke Lannon (9) had a great start to the day achieving a 10 second PB in the 100IM , his 50m freestyle saw him achieve a 3 second PB in a time of 41.63s finishing 7th in both those events. Luke was delighted with a 6 second PB in his favoured Breaststroke and a 4th place finish in the 100m and 5th place finish in the 50m breaststroke. Luke also achieved a 1second PB in the 50m back crawl and his first time of 1.43.17 in the 100m freestyle. Swimming as a 10yr old Luke was proud to have performed top ten finishes in all events at his first level 3 meet.
Ava Neal (10) commenced her day with a massive 10 second PB in the 50m Freestyle. She continued to beat her PB in the 50m Breaststroke and placed in the top 10. Ava finished the meet maintaining her time in the 50m backstroke.
Beth Jones (10) began with an impressive 3 second PB in the 100 IM and went into the afternoon session maintaining her time in the freestyle. Beth ranked in the top 10 in both her 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke.
Ryan Mongan (9) was pleased with his swims in the morning session gaining valuable experiences in all four strokes in the 10 year old competitions and finishing with a PB in the freestyle and a massive 15 second PB in the 100m IM. He participated in his first Level 3 meet in the afternoon achieving a fantastic 5 second PB in the 50m freestyle, then going on to place 5th in the 100m breaststroke.
James Mongan (12) began the level 3 session gaining valuable experience in the 200m IM, following up with a 2 second PB in the 50m freestyle and finishing his day with a fantastic 5 second PB in the 100m breaststroke.
Darren Woods (12) had a great day swimming. He tried a new race for the first time, the 200IM which he enjoyed and now has a time to work off. His second race was the 50m butterfly where again he had a great race, achieving a 5 second PB. His 3rd race was the 50m breaststroke. Again, he had a good race achieving another PB of 3 seconds. Darren finished off the day racing in the 50m backstroke where he had a brilliant race and achieved another 6.5 sec PB. He had a great day swimming, finishing top 10 in all of his races.
Adam Forster (11) also attended, swimming in three races. In the 50m breaststroke he had a PB of 53.81 seconds and was placed 2nd winning a silver medal. In the 50m backstroke he had a PB of 47.71 and was placed 1st winning a gold medal! In the 100m freestyle he had a PB of 1.29 seconds and was placed 5th. Some fantastic results from a great day of swimming and representing Lakelanders.
Josh Cassidy (10) entered four events, the first being a strong performance in the 25m butterfly, next up was the challenging 100m Individual Medley which he took in his stride, producing a 22.76 second PB. Josh also entered the 50m butterfly in. which he demonstrated great determination from start to finish. He completed his day with a great experience in the 100m breaststroke.
Erin Salcedo (10) swam three events coming away with a 2 second PB in the 25m backstroke, a four second PB in the 25m breaststroke and a fantastic 7 second PB in the 25m freestyle.
Kate McDade (11) was pleased with her performance in the 50m freestyle where she ranked in the top 10 finishers, also gaining a PB.
She went on to achieve an impressive 3 second PB in the 100m breaststroke and finished off her day with a 2 second PB in the 100m backstroke.
Hannah Beacom (12) swam well in all four strokes in the morning session, achieving PBs in backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and an impressive 7 second PB in the 100m IM. In the afternoon session she was pleased with her 5 second PB in the 5om freestyle and gained valuable experience in the 100m breaststroke.
Dara Toner (13) achieved a fabulous 8 second PB in the 50m freestyle and also swam well in the 100m breaststroke.
All the young swimmers did themselves, the coaches and their families proud with their efforts and improvements in their performances in Lisburn. Clare Morris led the coaching team on the day and said “It was a pleasure to spend the day with this super bunch, they did themselves and the club proud. Great swimming all round!”
A squad of 33 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers attended the Swim Belfast Open Meet on Sunday the 15th of February in Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn. The gala was a great success for the Fermanagh swimmers who relished the opportunity to compete against swimmers from clubs across Ulster, Leinster & Connacht, returned home with numerous medals and personal best times.
Local Swimmers Sparkle for their Schools as Past & Present Lakelanders lead the way for Fermanagh at Swim Ulster’s Senior Schools’ Cup & Championships in Bangor
The Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships 2026 took place on Friday 6th February at Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex Bangor. Over 1000 swimmers from more than 130 schools across the province of Ulster took part in the one day event. Three local schools were part of the action with 22 local swimmers taking part.
On Saturday 31st January, 13 young swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club competed in Round 3 of the Swim Ulster Future Challengers Series at Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre, Belfast. The meet attracted over 450 swimmers aged 10–14 from across Ulster, all taking on the more challenging events of Individual Medley (IM), Backstroke and Butterfly.
The Lakelanders squad rose to the occasion, relishing the opportunity to race against strong provincial competition while aiming for personal best performances.
6 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers competed at Swim Ulster’s Open Long Course Meet at the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex in Bangor on the 24 & 25th January. Swimmers from clubs all over Ireland attended this exciting start to the Long Course season and the Lakelanders were eager to race their fellow athletes in the fabulous 10 lane 50m pool at the Aurora.
A strong squad of Lakelanders junior swimmers took part in Swim Ulster Future Challengers Meet 2 at Omagh Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Coach Chelsey Weir was there to support the young swimmers who brought home a substantial haul of medal award pins and a raft of new personal times.
6 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers made the journey to the Coral Leisure Centre Monaghan for Sliabh Beagh Swimming Club’s Winter Cluster Meet on 6th & 7th December.
Swim Ulster Primary Schools Cup and Championship was held at the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, Bangor on Saturday 29th November 2025. Excited for this opportunity to represent their schools, 22 swimmers across 10 local schools headed to Bangor determined to do the South-West proud and qualify for the All-Ireland Championships held in Dublin in March. Although a school competition, all the students attending are committed members of the Enniskillen Lakelanders swimming club and mustered all their skills and training in competing against the best swimmers from schools across Ulster. A successful day saw 4 podium finishes and an amazing number of swimmers qualify for the All-Ireland primary school championship to be held at the National Aquatic Centre Dublin next year.
A squad of 10 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers attended Dungannon Swimming Club’s 40th Anniversary Gala on Sunday the 9th November at Dungannon Leisure Centre. The gala was a great success for the young swimmers who returned home with numerous personal bests.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their Autumn Junior Gala on Sunday 26th October, an event aimed at younger swimmers. This was the club’s first Gala in their new temporary base at Omagh Leisure Centre and there was much excitement among the swimmers from the outset with 37 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders taking part. They were joined by competitors from nine other Ulster swimming clubs. For many of the 8-14 year-old competitors, this would be one their first experiences of individual competition, that all important first step for every sportsperson.
11 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders swimming club made their way to the Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre in Belfast to compete at Swim Ulster's Aspiring Champions Meet; the first Gala of the season for swimmers aged 13 and over. The event was held over two days, 18th & 19th October. Coaches across Ulster use this gala to assess and monitor swimmers' skills, providing the scaffolding for the building blocks for success in the coming season.
All the work so far on skills and technique resulted in a slew of Swim Ulster Awards, personal bests and many top ten finishes for the Enniskillen Lakelanders.
