Enniskillen Lakelanders' swimmers clinch medals & top ten finishes for their schools at Irish Minor Schools National Competition in Dublin
The Irish Minor Schools Championships 2026 took place on Sunday 29th March at the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin. 10 Enniskillen Lakelanders swimmers aged 12 and under made the journey, having qualified in November at the regional schools gala in Bangor and were high with excitement as they headed off to Dublin to do their schools proud on the National stage.
Enniskillen Integrated PS

Imogen Neal (10) enjoyed her second year at Irish Minor Schools Championships, having qualified for the 50m Breaststroke and Freestyle events. She produced strong swims in both, securing a new PB in the latter.
Enniskillen Model PS

Harriett Cadden (10) showcased remarkable progression in the 50m Breaststroke, slicing nearly three seconds off her PB.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School

Jakub Mikievicz Lumayad (12) clocked almost 3 seconds off his PB in the 50m Freestyle preliminaries to secure a place in the exciting final, where a nail-biting finish brought him to the wall in third place to claim a bronze medal. Another strong swim in the 50m Backstroke ranked him among the top 13 of his age group.

Holy Trinity PS Enniskillen

Charlie Brewster (9) excelled in his debut on the national stage at the NAC. A strong swim in the heats qualified him for the final in the 50m Breaststroke. He backed this up with another PB time of 48.78 seconds and an amazing final swim to take home the bronze medal to Holy Trinity Primary School.
Older sister Mollie Kate Brewster (11) cemented herself as one of the top 11 year olds in Ireland with 2 amazing swims at the National Aquatic Centre. She took 4 secs off her previous time in the 100m IM finishing 6th in a field of over 200 swimmers the most contested event of the day. She followed this up with another 3 second PB in the 50m Backstroke narrowly missing out on a medal finishing in 4th place.

Emily Irvine (10) delivered an outstanding performance at the Irish Schools Championships, securing two top-ten finishes in highly competitive fields. She placed 10th out of 110 swimmers in the 50m Freestyle, clocking an impressive 37.43 seconds. She then raised the bar even further with a superb 4th-place finish out of 102 competitors in the 50m Backstroke, showcasing her versatility and competitive edge with a remarkable time of 41.05. A truly excellent achievement.
Elin O’Donohue (11) delivered a strong performance, achieving new personal bests in both the 50m Butterfly and 100m Individual Medley. She showed great progress, cutting an impressive five seconds from her entry times in each event.
St Michael’s College

Conor Collins (12) produced a strong swim in the 100m Individual Medley, showing good control across all four strokes to maintain his personal best.
St Patrick’s PS Mullanaskea

Tara Collins (10) competed in the 50m Freestyle and Butterfly, recording two impressive five second personal bests and finishing among the top 25 swimmers in Ireland in both events.
Orlaith Howell (10) was delighted to be in Dublin for her first Irish Schools Championships. She swam in the 50m Backcrawl, coming away with a new PB.
These successes will motivate the swimmers as they continue their training with Enniskillen Lakelanders coaches Fionna and Chelsey, working towards competing at next month’s South Lakes Gala in Craigavon.
On Saturday 21st March, a group of 14 young swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club took part in Round 4 of the Swim Ulster Future Challengers Series, held at Lagan Valley Leisureplex in Lisburn. The competition drew over 450 swimmers between the ages of 10 and 14 from across Ulster.
Participants competed in a range of more demanding events, including Individual Medley (IM), Breaststroke, and Freestyle. The Lakelanders swimmers performed with determination throughout the meet, embracing the challenge of competing against a high standard of provincial opposition while striving to achieve personal best times.
11 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers travelled to the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, Bangor to compete in Round 2 of Swim Ulster’s ‘Aspiring Champions’ Meet Series on 14th & 15th March. This spectacular 50m pool was the perfect venue for the many challenging events the Fermanagh swimmers were eager to dive into over the weekend.
A squad of 33 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers attended the Swim Belfast Open Meet on Sunday the 15th of February in Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn. The gala was a great success for the Fermanagh swimmers who relished the opportunity to compete against swimmers from clubs across Ulster, Leinster & Connacht, returned home with numerous medals and personal best times.
Local Swimmers Sparkle for their Schools as Past & Present Lakelanders lead the way for Fermanagh at Swim Ulster’s Senior Schools’ Cup & Championships in Bangor
The Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships 2026 took place on Friday 6th February at Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex Bangor. Over 1000 swimmers from more than 130 schools across the province of Ulster took part in the one day event. Three local schools were part of the action with 22 local swimmers taking part.
On Saturday 31st January, 13 young swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club competed in Round 3 of the Swim Ulster Future Challengers Series at Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre, Belfast. The meet attracted over 450 swimmers aged 10–14 from across Ulster, all taking on the more challenging events of Individual Medley (IM), Backstroke and Butterfly.
The Lakelanders squad rose to the occasion, relishing the opportunity to race against strong provincial competition while aiming for personal best performances.
6 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers competed at Swim Ulster’s Open Long Course Meet at the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex in Bangor on the 24 & 25th January. Swimmers from clubs all over Ireland attended this exciting start to the Long Course season and the Lakelanders were eager to race their fellow athletes in the fabulous 10 lane 50m pool at the Aurora.
A strong squad of Lakelanders junior swimmers took part in Swim Ulster Future Challengers Meet 2 at Omagh Leisure Centre on Saturday.
Coach Chelsey Weir was there to support the young swimmers who brought home a substantial haul of medal award pins and a raft of new personal times.
6 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers made the journey to the Coral Leisure Centre Monaghan for Sliabh Beagh Swimming Club’s Winter Cluster Meet on 6th & 7th December.
Swim Ulster Primary Schools Cup and Championship was held at the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, Bangor on Saturday 29th November 2025. Excited for this opportunity to represent their schools, 22 swimmers across 10 local schools headed to Bangor determined to do the South-West proud and qualify for the All-Ireland Championships held in Dublin in March. Although a school competition, all the students attending are committed members of the Enniskillen Lakelanders swimming club and mustered all their skills and training in competing against the best swimmers from schools across Ulster. A successful day saw 4 podium finishes and an amazing number of swimmers qualify for the All-Ireland primary school championship to be held at the National Aquatic Centre Dublin next year.
