
Lakelanders push for top performance in Lisburn at Jack Beattie Memorial Meet

A squad of 20 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers attended the Jack Beattie Memorial Open on Sunday the 14th of May in Lagan Valley Leisurplex, Lisburn. The gala was a great success for the young swimmers with a total of 7 medals and numerous personal bests.
Twin brothers Ryan and Rory Aiken (14) really enjoyed competing, showing maturity and noted improvement in their swims. Ryan knocked a huge 9.5 seconds off his 50m Butterfly PB and nearly 2 secs off his PB in the 50m Freestyle. Rory also shaved 2.5 seconds off his PB in 50m Butterfly and another 1 second off his 50m Freestyle. Both were pleased with top 10 finishes across all their events.
Josh Cassidy (13) competed in 4 races, 100m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke and secured great PBs in the 100m Freestyle and 50m Freestyle.
Darragh Collins (11) swam in 4 events coming away with 3 PBs. The highlight of the day for Darragh was placing 7th in his age group in the 50m Backstroke.
Lorcan Doherty (14) gained new PBs in 100m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke and 100m Freestyle.
Myah Greene (11) really enjoyed taking part in her first non-local gala where she swam in the 50m & 100m Breaststroke, 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke.
Sophie Hanna (11) shaved an impressive 15.07 seconds her 100m Backstroke PB as well as achieving another PB in the Butterfly. Sophie went on to have top 10 finishes in the 50m breaststroke and Backstroke.
A very successful day for Myleene Leonard (11), achieving 4 PBs and knocking over 30 seconds off her times. Myleene was most impressed with her improvement in the 100m Backstroke and Breaststroke placing 8th and 10th overall. She went on to have 2 great Freestyle swims placing 7th and 8th.
Holly McCabe (11) competed in three events, the 50m Freestyle and Backstroke as well as the 100m Freestyle, securing new PBs in all three races, knocking nearly 4 seconds off her Backstroke time.
Martha McCreesh (11) had four top five finishes claiming bronze medals in both the 50m and 100m freestyle.
Jessica Miller (12) was in top form in her Breaststroke events placing 2nd in her 100m and 2nd in 50m, bringing home two silver medals and a new PB. She finished the day competing in the 100m Freestyle, gaining another PB, knocking almost 4 seconds off her previous time.
Ryan Mongan (13) was pleased to see his hard work in training produce PBs in both the 100m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle events. He went on to swim to his PB in the 100m Freestyle race.
Crea Mullen (11) gained a new PB in both 50m Freestyle and 50m Backstroke. She also took part in 2 new events, 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly finishing strong in both swims.
Tori Reid (13) maintained her time in the 100m Breaststroke and picked up a 5 second PB in the 100m Freestyle race.
Maeve Rolston-McAuliffe (13) placed 7th in the 200m Freestyle with an 18 second PB and 8th in the challenging 200m Individual Medley event with a whopping 40 second PB.
Erin Salcedo (13) had a successful gala, achieving a bronze medal in 50m Breaststroke. She also secured an impressive PB of 6seconds in her 200m Freestyle, placing her 7th overall, achieving a Summer National qualifying time. Erin also performed well in both her 100m Freestyle (10th place) and 100m Breaststroke (11th place).
Keira Salcedo (11) earned a PB of 3.88s finishing in 8th place overall in the 100m Breaststroke. She maintained her PBs in the 50m Breaststroke and 50m Freestyle events.
Emma Speer (12) who was celebrating her 12th birthday, had a great day picking up two bronze medals in her 50m and 100m Breaststroke and a PB in her 50m Freestyle.
Sarah Speer (14) had PBs in all her three events 100m Breaststroke, 100m and 50m Freestyle races.
Xanthe Walker (14) improved her PB in both 50m and 100m Freestyle by an amazing combined 9 seconds.
Club Chairperson Aideen Speer was proud of all the swimmers’ efforts, numerous medals and PBs, as were their families.
The smooth running of the event was a credit to all the parent volunteers, all supporting the stellar work of the coaching team led by Ben Wiffen and Clare Morris. The club express their gratitude to Lough Erne Resort and Western Cars Enniskillen for their continued support.
These younger Lakelanders will now set their sights on facing Newry swimming club in the next round of the Aquasprint League on 27th May on home ground at the Lakeland Forum, Enniskillen.
A squad of 9 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club attended the Ulster Age Group and Senior LC Championships at the Bangor Aurora Leisure Complex on 1st, 2nd & 3rd May. Competitors from across 32 clubs in Ulster met the tough qualification standards to take part in this key meet over three days, targeting Ulster podium spots, and those important Summer National qualification times.
Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their Spring Junior Gala on Sunday 26th April, an event aimed at younger swimmers. As the Lakelanders approach the first year complete at their temporary base at Omagh Leisure Centre and there was much excitement among the swimmers from the outset with 41 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders taking part. They were joined by competitors from eleven other Ulster swimming clubs. For many of the 8-14 year-old competitors, this would be one their first experiences of individual competition, that all important first step for every sportsperson.
Portadown ASC and Lurgan ASC hosted the South Lake Open Meet 2026 at South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th April. A total of 26 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers competed over the two day meet.
Saturday morning saw fantastic swimming by 11 of our younger athletes competing in a range of 25m races in the short course format. Many PBs were smashed with the young Lakelanders doing their club proud in the pool.
On Saturday 21st March, a group of 14 young swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club took part in Round 4 of the Swim Ulster Future Challengers Series, held at Lagan Valley Leisureplex in Lisburn. The competition drew over 450 swimmers between the ages of 10 and 14 from across Ulster.
Participants competed in a range of more demanding events, including Individual Medley (IM), Breaststroke, and Freestyle. The Lakelanders swimmers performed with determination throughout the meet, embracing the challenge of competing against a high standard of provincial opposition while striving to achieve personal best times.
11 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers travelled to the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, Bangor to compete in Round 2 of Swim Ulster’s ‘Aspiring Champions’ Meet Series on 14th & 15th March. This spectacular 50m pool was the perfect venue for the many challenging events the Fermanagh swimmers were eager to dive into over the weekend.
A squad of 33 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers attended the Swim Belfast Open Meet on Sunday the 15th of February in Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn. The gala was a great success for the Fermanagh swimmers who relished the opportunity to compete against swimmers from clubs across Ulster, Leinster & Connacht, returned home with numerous medals and personal best times.
Local Swimmers Sparkle for their Schools as Past & Present Lakelanders lead the way for Fermanagh at Swim Ulster’s Senior Schools’ Cup & Championships in Bangor
The Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships 2026 took place on Friday 6th February at Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex Bangor. Over 1000 swimmers from more than 130 schools across the province of Ulster took part in the one day event. Three local schools were part of the action with 22 local swimmers taking part.
On Saturday 31st January, 13 young swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club competed in Round 3 of the Swim Ulster Future Challengers Series at Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre, Belfast. The meet attracted over 450 swimmers aged 10–14 from across Ulster, all taking on the more challenging events of Individual Medley (IM), Backstroke and Butterfly.
The Lakelanders squad rose to the occasion, relishing the opportunity to race against strong provincial competition while aiming for personal best performances.
6 Enniskillen Lakelanders’ swimmers competed at Swim Ulster’s Open Long Course Meet at the Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex in Bangor on the 24 & 25th January. Swimmers from clubs all over Ireland attended this exciting start to the Long Course season and the Lakelanders were eager to race their fellow athletes in the fabulous 10 lane 50m pool at the Aurora.
