Following the recent Irish Golfing upset in Portrush and whilst many Irish athletes travelled to the European Youth Olympics in Baku, 12 Local swimmers geared up for the Irish Summer National Finals at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin. Attended by 993 swimmers from 126 national and International clubs, this 5 day event is the climax of the national age group, swimming calendar. Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club sent an unprecedented 12 local swimmers to the event and they didn’t disappoint, returning with many Irish titles, medals and personal best swims, small wonder that the county of Lakes and waterways should produce this many home grown aquatic stars...just under 10% of all club members.


Swim Ireland’s Irish National Division 2 Championship took place between Thursday the 11th & Sunday 14th July at University of limerick’s Sports Arena. A record number of 864 swimmers from 96 clubs in Ireland competed over 4 days at this fantastic venue, with 3,195 individual events and 180 relays over the course of the competition. As is now commonplace, Enniskillen lakelanders Swimming club were in the thick of the action with 4 swimmers attending this prestigious championship. EIMEAR MAGEE, JAMIE LANNON, CORA CASSIDY AND TOM BUCHANAN.


Every year swimmers throughout Ireland spend 10 months training and competing at club and regional level with the goal of qualifying for the National Div 1 and Division 2 Finals. Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club are proud that in recent years a growing amount of Fermanagh swimmers have seen their efforts in training pay off with qualification to compete against the best in the country. This year the club has an unprecedented 17 swimmers qualified at the elite level which begins this Thursday 11th July in Limerick with the National Division 2 Finals. The event run to Fina Olympic standards takes place across 4 days and 6 young Lakelanders will be making the long journey with high hopes and high confidence from many months of hard training and competing.


Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their annual End of Season Gala last Sunday 23rd June. This event not only marks the end of the club's 10 month season, but is also is an opportunity for all swimmers from Beginners to Seniors to compete side by side with exhibition and fun events followed by annual presentations and the coveted Coach's Cups.


Eleven of the younger Lakelander swimmers made the journey to Newry on Sunday 16th June for the annual Swim Ulster Swim Festival 2019, accompanied by Head Coach Aaron Rickhuss.  It was a very successful day for the Fermanagh swimmers with 6 Golds, 6 Silvers, 6 Bronze Medals and a significant amount of PB’s achieved across all strokes


To help Northern Ireland’s own Golden Girl, Mary Peters, Swim Ulster organised a gala to help raise funds for “Mary’s Race to £1million”. As the Mary Peter’s Trust prepares to celebrate the Olympic Athletes 80th birthday, more than 400 swimmers descended to the Aurora 50m pool in Bangor for a Level 3 gala enabling swimmers a last opportunity to achieve qualifying times for the Irish Summer Nationals. A team of 16 swimmers participated from the Enniskillen Lakelanders over the two days and each of them were hoping to impress coach Aaron Rickhuss following recent preparations.


Enniskillen Lakelanders Swimming Club held their first Junior Gala took on Sunday 26th May, an event that was aimed at the younger swimmers from the local club and other clubs from around the Ulster region. For many of the 8-12 yr old competitors, this would be their first individual competition, that all important first step for every sportsperson. 80 swimmers aged 8-12 attended the event which was overseen by Swim Ireland referee Lars Beheme from East Cavan Swimming Club, who in turn was supported by 35 parent volunteers from the local club.


Thirteen swimmers journeyed to Lisburn to compete in the 4th Swim Ulster Development Meet on 18th May. The Lakelanders didn't disappoint, bringing home medals and PBs.


Enniskillen Lakelanders hosted Alliance for the last round of Aquasprint League of the season on Saturday 27thApril. The Lakelanders headed into this round knowing they were missing many of their regulars who were attending the Ulster Championships in Bangor, and also that Alliance were unbeaten in the league so far. With lots of beginners taking part in their first individual swims of the year there were plenty of nerves, but the Lakelanders were still in fine form and right from the outset it promised to be a fun-filled evening of racing.


8 Ulster Titles and Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals plus more than 50 personal best times show Lakelanders stars' recent improvements made under the guidance of Aaron Rickhuss.
