With the 2021/2022 swimming season coming to an end, the finale for the competitive swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders is the Irish Summer National competitions. These competitions will take place across two meets in July with Irish National Division 2 taking place in Limerick, followed by Irish Summer Nationals in Dublin. Summer National competitions last took place in 2019 so there is great excitement among the 13 local swimmers who have qualified to compete at these events.

The Swim Ulster Festival took place at Lagan Valley Leisureplex in Lisburn on Sunday the 26th of June. This meet was open to all Ulster junior swimmers over the age of 10 who are not yet eligible for the Irish Summer National competitions. Considered one of the most fun galas on the competition calendar, it also gave 8 of our Enniskillen Lakelanders a final opportunity to compete while testing the race skills they’ve developed over the season. The swimmers showed off their talent and were rewarded in abundance with a great deal of PBs and medals.

Enniskillen Lakelanders held their End of Year Event on the 18th June at the Share Centre, Lisnaskea. This was a new adventure for the Club who in previous years have held an End of Year End Gala for members.

Enniskillen Lakelanders travelled to Omagh Leisure Complex on the 10th June to take part in the Forest Feast Aquasprint A final. Forty five very excited children arrived in Omagh at 6pm , all hoping to swim their way to Division 3 for the very first time. Enniskillen Aquasprint team had earned their place in the A Final having achieved three wins out of three in the league.

Banbridge Open Long Course Meet took place in Craigavon’s South Lakes leisure on Saturday the 11th of June. A squad of 13 Lakelanders’ swimmers, along with Head Coach Ben Wiffen, made their way to the fabulous South Lakes Leisure Centre long course (50m) swimming pool for the final club meet of the season. This meet provided the final opportunity for competitive swimmers to qualify for Swim Ireland's Irish Summer National competitions. As a bonus Banbridge swimming club had extended their invitation to clubs from all over Ireland. The chance to achieve qualifying times and compete against the best in Ireland was too good to miss.

As temperatures rose across the Jubilee Bank holiday weekend a squad of 10 swimmers from Enniskillen Lakelanders made the trip to Aurora Leisure Complex for the aptly named ‘Bangor Summer Sizzler’ Meet. Joining competitors from 38 clubs the Enniskillen swimmers approached the two-day meet with great confidence with Division 1 and 2 Summer National times in their sights.

Saturday 28th of May was a big day for Enniskillen Lakelanders; a fundraising bake sale on the Diamond in the morning followed in the evening by the final round of the Aquasprint league hosted at home in the Lakeland Forum.

Congratulations to our Masters swimmers who were successful at a few recent events.

Round Two of the Aquasprint league for the Enniskillen Lakelanders took place on Saturday 14th May away to Sliabh Beagh Swimming Club at Coral Leisure Centre in Monaghan. 40 of our younger swimmers born between 2014 and 2009 took to the pool. With both teams having won their first round Lakelanders knew this would be a tough battle. Sliabh Beigh had always been a division ahead of Lakelanders however they knew they had a battle on their hands.

A squad of ten Enniskillen Lakelanders attended the Jack Beattie Memorial Open Meet on Sunday 15th of May in Lagan Valley Leisureplex in Lisburn.  The gala was another successful outing for the club with a total of 29 Personal Bests (PBs) achieved.
